2024 MASBO Summer Conference

Several laws affect school transportation, including state and/or federal laws (Hours of Service, Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse, MAP21, including the new ELDT, Driver Training requirements, and Use of NON-approved buses/vehicles for home-to-school or school-to-home routes). It's up to the schools to ensure that they are following the laws correctly. If they aren't, they can lose state reimbursement from OPI and could be subject to state or federal fines (both for the school district and the driver). Presented by Michael Edwards, Harlow's School Bus Services, Stevensville Transportation Manager, Stevensville Public Schools.
